P9 - Feedback on draft film poster

I've asked several people to share their thoughts and views on my poster for my short horror film. From the feedback I've received I've noticed the majority of the people I've asked like the poster and commented how well it represents the gothic horror genre. However, there are 3 feedbacks in particular which differed from the rest. One (1st screenshot) said the poster is "simple" in a good way and the title stood out. Another (2nd screenshot) referred to the same points but mentioned the title looked "like it was done quickly". The third feedback shows the person understood the concept of the poster by saying it's "artistic" which was my aim to make the poster look that way but in a simplistic style.
I asked what people think the film could be about by just looking at the poster and the answers were pretty much the same - a girl is stuck somewhere and can't get out, which is the concept of the film. From hearing this, i know that i've accomplished my aim with the poster as people understand the image shown.
The only improvement mentioned was on the writing of the title. Someone suggested (2nd screenshot) that maybe there should be a dripping blood effect. I've thought about this and have decided not to take it on board as it wouldn't make sense since there will be no image or footage of blood in my film.
From analysing other film posters i've thought about how i can make mine different and stand out from the rest. From the feedback, which was useful, I realised i don't have to use a lot of colours, details or wording for people to look at it or take notice of it.

P8 - Draft of poster
This is a draft of the poster for my film. I've decided to keep it really simple by only including the title of the film linked with the tagline, "once you're in there's no escape". This is because I want my audience to be intrigued by the poster because of the lack of other wording or imagery. From analysing film posters I found out they will usually include the credits and mentioning of producers from other films. However, with my poster I want to keep it as minimal as possible so the audience are only focused on the tagline, title and the imagery.
The person in the poster juxtaposes with the villain in my film - in the film the face of the villain is never seen (except the eyes).
I've used the colours of only black and white to stick to the conventions of gothic horror which typically uses these colours to represent the supernatural or the paranormal. In addition, the colours connote the feeling of loneliness.

P6 - Gothic horror film posters
From research I've found that gothic horror film poster are relatively the same, particularly in colour.
Above are three posters from gothic horror films. I've analysed the three and in general they all represent the genre really well in terms of colour. From previous research I've found out one of the conventions of gothic horror is the theme of the supernatural and the paranormal. For example, the second poster of the film 'Tusk' looks similar to "Sleep Hollow" although the content is different. But when thoroughly analysed, as an audience member i would presume the film could be about the supernatural (e.g. werewolves) as the full moon usually means a person transitions into a werewolf - according to popular folklore.
For my poster i will incorporate these ideas so it also represents the gothic horror genre.

PUBLISHING
OF THE ADVERT: The trailer will be published online
so anyone can
have access to it. As it is aimed for
those aged
12+ this will be a good idea as young
people are
more familiar with the way things work
online and
can
easily find it
UNIQUE
SELLING POINT: This product is better compared to
what is already out
out there because of how we’ve challenged
the
conventions of gothic horror and the way
we’ve added
a little bit of modernity in our film.
COMPETITIVE
MARKET: Movies which revolve around the theme of a
victim
terrorised
in a dream and are deceased in real life but unaware of it is our main
competitor as there are a few which explores the idea more thoroughly and get
more into detail of the background story such as ‘The Sixth Sense”. Films which
include this are psychological themed or paranormal. But because our film is
gothic-horror we’ve included a character that is a vampire to stick with the
supernatural theme which is more common in gothic horror.

KEY SCENES:
KEY SCENE 1: A
medium long shot of the kitchen and Hannah sitting at the table in the kitchen
where she is doing her work on the laptop. The shot dissolves into a 2nd
shot where she tired. This then dissolves into the 3rd shot where
she is now asleep still at the table. The camera moves into an extreme close up
of Hannah waking up (specifically, a shot of her eye). The next shot is a
medium shot of Hannah looking around the room as the atmosphere is suddenly tense
and everything looks dull.
KEY SCENCE 2: There
is a long shot of an open door and the room completely pitch black. Hannah
creeps past it and as soon as she is out of the shot, a pair of red, luminous
eyes shows in the dark at head level.
KEY SCENE 3: A
tracking shot at ground level shows a woman walking on grass for a short moment
until she stops. The camera pans up to an over the shoulder shot at a high
angle when the woman is kneeling down. She slowly gets up and walks away and
that is when a gravestone is revealed in Hannah’s name from a medium close up.
From then the shot fades out to black.
KEY SCENE 4: After
Hannah finds the card which reads inside, “may Hannah rest in peace”, she
frantically cries and starts screaming. The shot transitions into a very long
shot of her inside her kitchen crying and screaming. The camera then slowly
pans down to the floor at a high angle with a close up of her locket on the
floor. The camera zooms in then fades to black.
