I've asked several people to share their thoughts and views on my poster for my short horror film. From the feedback I've received I've noticed the majority of the people I've asked like the poster and commented how well it represents the gothic horror genre. However, there are 3 feedbacks in particular which differed from the rest. One (1st screenshot) said the poster is "simple" in a good way and the title stood out. Another (2nd screenshot) referred to the same points but mentioned the title looked "like it was done quickly". The third feedback shows the person understood the concept of the poster by saying it's "artistic" which was my aim to make the poster look that way but in a simplistic style.
I asked what people think the film could be about by just looking at the poster and the answers were pretty much the same - a girl is stuck somewhere and can't get out, which is the concept of the film. From hearing this, i know that i've accomplished my aim with the poster as people understand the image shown.
The only improvement mentioned was on the writing of the title. Someone suggested (2nd screenshot) that maybe there should be a dripping blood effect. I've thought about this and have decided not to take it on board as it wouldn't make sense since there will be no image or footage of blood in my film.
From analysing other film posters i've thought about how i can make mine different and stand out from the rest. From the feedback, which was useful, I realised i don't have to use a lot of colours, details or wording for people to look at it or take notice of it.
